Independent women are always perceived wrong by society
In the movie , there were various scenes where girl’s neighbours and society judges them on the basis of coming late from work and even for living separate from their family , in short for being independent as according to them women are only meant for household chores and for raising their family. Johnson(2018) has also mentioned that women are meant to do household work more seriously, even if they are doing multiple jobs but their main responsibilities are towards their family and home.
Women are always expected to say “YES”
We have visualized the major incident when the girl who was molested said no to indulge in any sexual activity but she was not at all listened and the boy continued doing wrong acts with her. When she tried to protect her by throwing pot oh him , he got extremely angry and wanted to take revenge from her.
Men can not hear the word “NO”
In the movie we have experienced that when women denied having sex with that guy, he became extremely angry because he can not tolerate Minal refusing him for his sexual needs and desires. In reaction to this he started harassing her in her daily life and started calling her with wrong names such as call girl and prostitute. He also blamed her for demanding money from him. He shouted in the courtroom that she is a women of questionable character.
Arms of clock decides women’s character

This is depicted in the movie that society will judge a women to be indulged in any wrong act when she returns home late . In the movie also we have seen that Minal and her friends went to have dinner in a hotel late night and then everybody was saying that it is not boys fault it is only their fault as they went out late night and this thing is inappropriate according to Indian society. Decent girls never go late night out of the home.
Powerful and influential people dominate the Law

The movie also entails us with the bitter truth of Indian society that the law is always in favour of rich and influential persons and its very rare that police administration listens the grievances of poor people. No matter how hard poor people work they will never be given same rights as rich. (Alvarado,2010) also acknowledges us with this utter reality through the myth of Meritocracy and hard work. If i relate this concept to me, being an international student here in Canada, no matter how hard we work , how hard we study to get good grades and build up a good profile, we will never be able to get the privileges as the natives.
This video will demonstrate the crime against women in India. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frxWbdJqk1s
